Thoughts on a Thor's Day

It’s been a while since I’ve dug deep and written about something that is bothering me. I’ve been pushing things to the back and walking around them, hoping they would go away. It’s not working.

I’m talking about all the nasty remarks concerning the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Yes, I know this is new and current. However, this is just the latest in the long line of garbage I keep seeing over and over and over again when someone thinks a cause is just a waste of time. Some people would rather bitch and moan. It’s easier than giving an actual fuck and hey, they have the illusion that it makes them look cool and edgy too.

Let me be perfectly clear here: I do not care if you don’t agree with something, I do not care if you participate or not, I do not care if you believe it is yet one more hoax, and I do not care if you have thousands of friends who think the same way you do. KEEP YOUR NEGATIVE REMARKS TO YOURSELF! If you are not participating this fund raiser is not affecting you in any way.

It has been said the people who are doing this challenge are in it for their shot at 10 minutes of fame, or the celebrities only wanted to do it to raise their public image. Well, in my little mind, I don’t care how the money has been raised. And from the Forbes report, I have to believe there is a BUNCH of money being raised. Thankfully the hidden agenda has been unlocked, it’s gone viral, and hundreds of people are participating. The more people participating the more money being raised and that is the whole reason behind the hidden agenda. It’s a fun, harmless activity that is greatly helping out a charity and medical cause.

And yes, before any of you try to educate me, I already know next years fundraising is going to fall short UNLESS they can come up with yet another way to continue the momentum.

People have too much time on their hands. Instead of making the rounds to see what you can do to make someone else miserable, fix your own back yard. Seriously, you should see how pathetic you look to others when you pull the same exact shit you have damned someone else for doing. But hey, I get it, you took their idea and ran with it… seems to me that there is an awful lot of that going around these days.

Author: Vickie

I am Vickie, but known by many names, wife, mother, friend, BITCH! And each title I more than deserve. I have been defying description for more than half my lifetime. I occasionally have my sanity, although my circle of friends might disagree with that; I’m a mix of opposites, random, different and unconventional. I’m a self taught know it all and even though I can admit I really don’t know everything, I do know enough to carry on a conversation with most anyone. Some call me mouthy, I freely speak my mind…I do NOT tolerate BS. I’m a wife, Mom, Abi, Witch, eclectic, free-thinking, Priestess in training, wanna be gardener, who loves all things Faerie, cooking and everything about my life!

  2. I know I said thank you on social media, but I’d like to thank you on your blog as well. Kind, sympathetic voices help broken hearts, and I know the family and friends of those who suffer from this illness are comforted by them.

    • Thanks Darlin! There is NO reason for anyone to be antagonistic over something that does so much good for so many people.
