The Feisty FaerieWitch

Witchy Wednesdays

Something new to me and even though there are a BUNCH of other blogs that post crafting segments I can promise you I’m not always going to have original ideas to pass on. BUT, I do occasionally find things I haven’t seen on any other blog or page I follow and those are the crafty things I want to share here. If you’ve already seen them you can either check to see if this one may be a little different that the one you already know or just ignore the post. Not only am I posting things here for those who follow and read The Feisty Witch, I’m also archiving them for my personal use. Have I made any of the things you may see here? Umm, probably not at the time I posted them. Eventually, they will be created and I’m sure I’ll add my own personal design twist to any one of them. I may even remember to post about what I actually made, but all of you know me and know how my brain works …so don’t count on that, I’m sure I’ll only disappoint.

Valentine’s Day and Lupercalia are just on the horizon and while you may already have your plans laid out or even set in motion, I don’t. I’m not much on decorating for this time of the year but food and wine are always a good thing to have. It’s possible Jimmy will be home this weekend, or he may not be. That is the life of an OTR driver and his family. IF he gets to come home, I “want” to go out to dinner to celebrate not only Valentine’s/Lupercalia but also both of our birthdays which always seem to be overlooked. Again, this is hinging on IF he comes home and IF he’s here for more than 10 hours.

Yeah, I know this isn’t very informative. I didn’t take the time to do much research before I decided to write this post. Next week will be better …maybe.

A few weeks ago Tanya found this recipe on Pinterest and made it for her family. Since I’m eating gluten free she’s figured out how to adapt this recipe using GF all purpose flour instead of what this one calls for. Evidently, the recipe she made turned out great. This recipe makes two loaves and they were both gone before the end of the night, LOL! She took it to a game day get together and her father in law had 4 pieces of it before dinner. This would be a great for coffee bread type of Valentine’s Day morning brunch. Click on the recipe to take you to the page where Tanya found this yumminess …

Classic Cherry Bread

  • 1 3/4 Cups All Purpose Flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup oil (vegetable, olive, etc)
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1 10-ounce jar maraschino cherries
  • Cream Cheese icing

Preheat your oven to 350, grease 2 loaf pans and set aside. Drain your cherries, reserving the juice. Give your cherries a rough chop and coat them in about 2 tsp flour. (This will prevent your cherries from sinking).

Combine your flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt together in a large bowl and stir together. In another bowl add your eggs, extract, oil, and cherry juice (reserve about 2 tsp of the juice for your icing) and mix well. Combine your wet and dry ingredients in a mixing bowl and mix well. Your batter will be thick, and It’s supposed to be, don’t over mix it!

Fold your cherries into your batter and mix. Pour your batter into your greased loaf pans, bake at 350 for around 40 minutes. Check them after 30 minutes.

Add in your reserved cherry juice to a cream cheese icing (you can make your own or just buy some!) and melt. Pour your icing over your cake (after it has cooled!) and serve!

That’s all for this week … let’s see what kind of mischief I can manage for next Wednesday!

Author: Vickie

I am Vickie, but known by many names, wife, mother, friend, BITCH! And each title I more than deserve. I have been defying description for more than half my lifetime. I occasionally have my sanity, although my circle of friends might disagree with that; I’m a mix of opposites, random, different and unconventional. I’m a self taught know it all and even though I can admit I really don’t know everything, I do know enough to carry on a conversation with most anyone. Some call me mouthy, I freely speak my mind…I do NOT tolerate BS. I’m a wife, Mom, Abi, Witch, eclectic, free-thinking, Priestess in training, wanna be gardener, who loves all things Faerie, cooking and everything about my life!

  1. I love recipes from my blogging friends and keep them in my cookbook . Most every one of them are still in there. This one will most likely stay because I LOVE cake loaves with real fruit.
